Meet the Artist: Pela x Orange Juice For Dinner 🍊

A Playful Collection That Finds Joy in the Everyday

We’re so excited to introduce the latest addition to the Pela Artist Series — a collaboration with Liberty Ewan, the UK-based artist behind the wildly relatable and delightfully quirky brand Orange Juice For Dinner.

Known for her colorful, heartfelt, and hilariously honest illustrations, Liberty’s work captures all the little moments that make up life — the good, the bad, and the just plain silly — and turns them into art that feels like a warm hug and a laugh at the same time.

We caught up with Liberty to chat about her creative journey, what inspires her, and the story behind her designs for Pela.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your art!

“My name is Liberty, a.k.a. Orange Juice For Dinner, and I’m a 27-year-old artist from Southampton, UK. I’ve been illustrating since I was little — I even studied art in college before really finding my style around 2019.

This became my full-time job in 2023, and honestly, it’s been a dream ever since. I get to draw silly things for a living — it’s the best!”

What inspires your creative process?

“My main source of inspiration is my thoughts, feelings, and the mundaneness of normal life — but I like to give them a fun, colorful twist! Sometimes I’ll have a random thought and immediately write it down because I know it’s going to become a drawing later.”

What message or feeling do you hope your artwork conveys?

“I hope people find comfort in my art. A lot of it’s very relatable — whether it’s crying, feeling rubbish, or just having a weird day — and I want people to know it’s okay to feel that way.

You don’t need to explain yourself; sometimes you just feel things! And then, of course, there’s the silly, lighthearted stuff too — because we all need a bit of that as well.”

What’s your favorite design from the collection?

“My favorite has to be the Dilly Dally phone case because… well, it’s literally me! I’m always late, always running behind, and no matter how hard I try to fix it, I just can’t seem to.

Luckily, my boss is me — and she doesn’t care if I’m late because she’s late too!”

What’s the most exciting part of this collaboration for you?

“The most exciting part is definitely seeing my art on phone cases! It’s so cool knowing people will be carrying these little characters around every day.

What makes it even better is that Pela’s cases are made with the planet in mind — they’re eco-friendly and sustainable. I’ve always wanted to create phone cases, but I didn’t want to produce unnecessary waste, so this collaboration was honestly a dream come true.”
