More than 80% of our cases are manufactured in Canada.

Our Kelowna Sustainability Studio (KSS), in Canada, manufactures and engraves our classic Pela Case and also collects and regrinds materials from our Pela 360 Program to make new products. It is also the home of our laboratory equipment and where we conduct compost testing on our existing material and play with developing and testing new materials and products. Established in 2004 and acquired by Pela in 2019, KSS employs 12 people in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Our manufacturing partners in South China manufacture our Pela Cases, Pela AirPod Cases, Pela Vine Watch straps and Pela Vision Eyewear. Our main manufacturing partner in China was established in 2000 and employs 800 people.

How We Found Our Canadian Manufacturing Team

When the very first Pela Case  was coming to life in 2011, we needed to find a partner who was willing to work with our unique materials and take a chance on a small startup called Pela. Bernie, the owner of Vantec which later became KSS, was kind enough to believe in us as a client and was instrumental in helping us figure out how to process our material, and Pela Cases, on a production scale.  Bernie’s team grew along with Pela, and in 2019, Bernie and several members of his team moved from Saskatoon to Kelowna to become Pela employees.

KSS est dirigée par Susan (experte en opérations) et Bernie (génie de la mécanique), qui forment une équipe formidable. Susan cumule plus de 20 ans d'expérience en gestion et développement commercial, analyse, conseil, entrepreneuriat et ressources humaines. Bernie, quant à lui, possède plus de 30 ans d'expérience en développement de produits, de la conception initiale à la fabrication de prototypes, en passant par la production d'outillage de moulage par injection et les services de production complets.
