How it Ships
Materials
The Pela Case is made of Flaxstic®, which is comprised of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw materials. Our material has been tested to be safe and free of phthalates, BPA, cadmium and lead and is verified to meet child safety standards in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Our base material meets U.S. (ASTM D6400-04) and E.U. (EN 13432) standards for composting in an industrial composting facility and has a lower carbon footprint and lower greenhouse gas emissions than traditional plastic. It can also be left to compost in a home composting environment.

Worth the wait
A sturdy case with a nice finish. The speckled color difference subtly gives away its unique material. Together with the Pela grip my older model iPhone feels as new again. Dropped it once and so far so good. I can't wait to try and compost it after its job here is done. Too bad it had to be shipped/flown over from America though.

Pela Case review
I recently changed my phone and needed a case. This initiated some research and a new awareness of the damage being caused to the planet by the production of such a seemingly insignificant item as the humble phone case. I also learned many plastic cases contain toxins, potentially harmful to human health. Pela cases are one of the few products which are eco-friendly in the way they are produced, are biodegradable and are not made of plastic, and don't contain potentially harmful toxins. Very importantly they are also extremely good. The case I bought is very well finished, an excellent fit and the material itself very tactile and effective in protecting my phone. I live in the UK so my order did take a little longer to come than I had hoped, but well worth the wait. The product isn't cheap, but if you are serious about being ethical and eco-minded something like this is going to cost more than toxic, plastic trash. On that basis I think it justifies the higher cost. It's a great product all round. The service and communication from Pela are also outstanding. My order arrived with minimal packaging which was also really good.
